2018 Charity Exhibition Tracker

Last year for the first time ever the NCAA allowed teams to participate in pre-season charity exhibitions to benefit hurricane relief efforts from Hurricane Harvey which struck Texas. Many teams took advantage by raising thousands of dollars for those effected, and fans got to see their teams play games in late October and early November. It was truly a win all around. Some great local matchups came out of it such as Florida at Jacksonville, Milwaukee at Marquette, Northern Iowa at Wisconsin, Indiana State at Purdue, and Valpo at Chicago State. There were also teams that traveled further distances such as Georgia at Michigan State, Nebraska at Mississippi State, Grand Canyon at Nevada, and Albany at West Virginia. I like others was wondering if these great exhibitions would continue this season.

Well they are in fact continuing. Unfortunately the NCAA made a statement that if teams desire to participate in a charity exhibition it must be one of their two already allotted exhibitions because they will not be able to schedule an extra one like last year. Many teams typically choose to do one closed door or “secret” scrimmage plus their public exhibition against a local non division 1 team. This leads to there being not as many charity exhibitions this year.

These are the list of Charity exhibitions scheduled so far to raise funds for different charitable organizations.

Georgia at UAB – Thursday October 18th, Bartow Arena Birmingham Alabama

Penn State at West Virginia – Saturday November 3rd, WVU Coliseum Morgantown West Virginia

Washington at Nevada Sunday October 21st, Lawlor Events Center Reno Nevada
