On May 4th Happening Hoops broke seven of the eight teams in the field of the 2021 Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu Hawaii which included BYU, Liberty, New Mexico State, South Florida, Stanford, Wyoming, and host Hawaii.

Hours later Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports announced that Northern Iowa would be the final team.

Happening Hoops has been told that New Mexico State has pulled out of the Diamond Head Classic, and will instead be participating in the Myrtle Beach Invitational for their MTE. The Aggies have been replaced by Vanderbilt.

The commodores finished last season 9-16, and last participated in a multi-team-event in the 2019-20 season when they hosted the Vanderbilt Invitational.
