Washington D.C.

After giving up a three pointer to Lorenzo Donadio on the first possession Bucknell’s defense swarmed American and scored seven quick points. American answered with an 8-0 run of their own to retake the lead. The two teams went back and forth for much of the first half.

American began to go cold with about six minutes left before halftime. This allowed Bucknell to develop a lead that got out to 13 points. At halftime the score was 40-29 in favor of the Bison. Bucknell looked like the better team in the first half. Noah Williamson won the individual matchup against Matt Rogers, and the Bison were more efficient on their trips down the court offensively.

Bucknell continued their strong defensive effort. They were preventing American from scoring and forcing turnovers on a handful of the Eagles trips down the court. A fantastic home crowd was taking every opportunity to make themselves heard when American did find the bottom of the net.

Bucknell maintained a comfortable lead for the rest of the second half. When Matt Rogers picked up his fifth and final foul the senior was visibly frustrated as that likely ends his historic career at American unless he returns for an extra grad season of eligibility.

Bucknell kept their foot on the gas for the remainder of the game and walked away with a 80-57 win. Center Noah Williamson had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jack Forrest contributed 16 points and 7 rebounds.

The season continues for #5 Bucknell as they will travel to #1 Colgate for a Sunday semifinal game.
